There is no time like the present to better look after our health. Besides washing hands, self-quarantining, sleeping and lowering our stress – there are some consensus around what we consume on a daily basis to improve our immune systems. These practices increase our chances of staying well and will keep your physical and mental state at an all-time high.

3. Vitamin C
Any foods that have a high or rich concentrate of any of the four elements listed above, will help you achieve a boosted immune system.
What foods are high in these elements?
Probiotics are also called the friendly bacteria. Don’t get scared by its name! These bacteria fight off illness and can improve your health. Foods that are rich in probiotics are yogurt, pickles, buttermilk, and some types of cheese.
Antioxidant rich foods are often determined by colour! Look out for red, purple, oranges, deep green and golden yellows! (We don’t mean the packaging either!) Berries are particularly high in antioxidants as well as green tea and dark chocolate!
3. Vitamin C
This might be an obvious one, but vitamin c has been proven to fight off cold and flu like symptoms, which is perfect whilst we’re transitioning into the colder seasons. There are plenty of foods that are high in Vitamin C – broccoli, oranges, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and cauliflower. It sounds like soup making season to me!
Our last element, but one that can easily be sourced, is Zinc. Zinc is great for growth, and overall healing properties with our bodies. A few foods that are easy to work into your diets are legumes, red meat, beans, oats, seeds and wheat germ.
There are also quite a few foods out there, that once fermented, hold immune boosting qualities. Apple cider vinegar is a great example of this.
